Drive Green Even When it’s a Waste
By “waste,” we mean safely getting rid of the hazardous stuff.

Much of your car is hazardous, at least when it becomes a waste product. Much of the responsibility for proper disposal has been taken on by the automotive industry and its suppliers. Still, every driver will face a dilemma sooner or later. How can I dispose of this stuff without harming the environment?

Don’t Make a Peep, Just Eat!
Whether you prefer a bunny, star or even a ghost or gingerbread man, PEEPS® are a sweet treat!

For many people, spring means the snow melting and flowers blooming. For some, we know what spring really means: PEEPS®. Sure, this delicious marshmallow treat pops up year-round now, but we all remember the chicks and bunnies that always appeared on the shelves in the grocery stores during the spring.

Cell Phone Use in Cars Is All About the Brain, Not the Hands
Bluetooth notwithstanding, humans just aren’t wired to drive and phone.

Many states have made it illegal to use a hand-held cell phone while driving. Experts believed the danger was in driving with one hand and manipulating the cell phone with the other. That has spurred the popularity of hands-free cell phone technology, most notably enabled by Bluetooth connectivity. Unfortunately, further research is showing that hands-free phone use is no safer than hand-held talking. The hands are NOT the problem. It’s the brain!

Is it Spring Yet? & 10 ½ weeks until our Grand Opening in Skokie!!!

I’m on deadline here, because I’ve been too busy to write my column.   The weather has been problematic for us both in EvanstonSkokie.  In Evanston, we’re constantly dealing with leaky roofs, in our old dated facility, and the problems they cause.  In Skokie, we’re a little bit behind in our site work as we need to get the curbs in before we grade, stone and asphalt our new location.  We are stilling planning on moving to Skokie and becoming completely operational on Monday, July 13.  Our Grand Opening Extravaganza will be held on July 16, 17 and 18.   Our Grand Opening will include food, entertainment and selected guests, to make the weekend special.  Invitations are being prepared as we await the move we have all been waiting for.

The 2009 Subaru Outback Was First and Still Is One of the Best
Introduced in 1995 as the “sport utility wagon,” Outback broke crossover ground.

The term “crossover” had yet to be coined when the Subaru Outback came on the scene, but it was ahead of its time and remains the very definition of the crossover utility vehicle. Straddling the midsize wagon and crossover SUV segments, the 2009 Subaru Outback offers more off-road chops than other wagons and better handling than other SUVs.

A Little More Spice for a Longer Life
Spicy foods boast a long list of healing and preventative health benefits.

Here’s some new ammunition for spicy food lovers who are constantly defending their excessive use of crushed red pepper on pasta or their relentless dig for jalapenos in the nacho bowl. While hot and spicy foods will definitely help clear up a stuffy nose, there are millions of other health benefits that come from adding a little extra kick to your diet.

The Ultimate Balancing Act
James Marsh’s Man on Wire will have you sitting – and sweating – on the edge of your seat.

In February 2009, the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature went to director James Marsh for his spellbinding film Man on Wire. The film tells the story of Philippe Petit, a French tightrope walker, magician and unicyclist who sets out to perform an illegal high-wire walk between New York’s Twin Towers soon after their construction in 1974.
