Why Web 2.0 is important to small local nonprofits
The Nonprofit Consultant Blog

by Ken Goldstein, MPPA

There's lots of talk about how nonprofits should be using "Web 2.0" - interactive applications, two-way online communications, user generated content, "social media," etc. - perhaps so much so that it can be bewildering to smaller, grassroots organizations who are just struggling to get the word out locally and are wondering what they need with a World Wide Web.

The key for these organizations to remember is to ask how each of these applications relate to their on-the-ground strategy, and how to tie it in with what they are already doing.      read full story below

ePhilanthropy Code of Ethics: Test, Endorse, Practice
www.ephilanthropy.org/ethicscenter
by ephilanthropy.org

The ePhilanthropy Foundation exists to foster the effective and safe use of the Internet for philanthropic purposes.  In its effort to promote high ethical standards in online fundraising and to build trust among contributors in making online transactions and contributions with the charity of their choice, the Code of Ethical Online Philanthropic Purposes is offered as a guide to all who share this goal.  Join the many nonprofits that support this important mission and formally Endorse the Code of Ethics.  Sign the petition, proudly display the endorsement logo, and support the principles that will assist the global philanthropy sector in the ethical use of the Internet for philanthropic purposes.

Are you curious how your organization’s current practices stand up to the Code of Ethics?  Take our anonymous and brief Ethics Self Test to evaluate your online practices, and receive recommendations for improvements.  This self-test seeks to highlight elements of the Code of Ethics by helping to identify problems or raise questions about the ePhilanthropy practices of a nonprofit organization (NGO) and/or for profit provider.

Visit the Ethics Center to get started today!

Based on feedback received in the Annual Survey, ePhilanthropy.org is excited to share more information on the Code of Ethics and the benefits to the nonprofit community.

A Charity Badge to Raise Dough?
http://www.ticketprinting.com/
by Lance Trebesch and Colt Lapham

A charity badge is a small widget often including a picture, brief description of the organization, and link to where you can make a donation.  The beauty of the charity badge is that it allows users to share with one another by simply clicking on “get this badge” (wording may vary depending on badge provider) then copy and paste the html code onto their website or blog.  Much like a chain letter, the potential for spreading the badge is great especially when used on social networking sites or blogs.  read full story below
