Ted Hart Announces Plans To Step Down From ePhilanthropy Foundation
Letter to readers of the ePhilanthropy eZine
Dear Readers of the ePhilanthropy eZine:
I am writing now to let you know I have decided to step down at the ePhilanthropy Foundation after 7 years in service as President and CEO.
Seven years ago, nearly to the day, The ePhilanthropy Foundation http://ephilanthropy.org was but a twinkle in my eye. Reaching out to my friends and colleagues at the time, I found a very supportive community willing to join me in creating a center for promoting best practices and ethical behavior in the emerging nonprofit Internet community. Back then only the earliest of adopters had started raising money online. Many luminaries in the philanthropy world were openly debating if the Internet could or would be used by supporters and donors of charities.
Today, a lot of progress has been made, each year billions of dollars are raised online, and it would be difficult to find a charity that does not understand that the Internet plays an important role in their future. I plan to step down as President and CEO effective October 4, 2007.
I will stay active in our field via my consulting firm Hart Philanthropic Services (http://tedhart.com) and this fall will focus efforts on the release of a next book, I have co-edited with James Greenfield and Sheeraz Haji, People to People Fundraising: Social Networking and Web 2.0 for Charities. http://astore.amazon.com/tedhart.com-20/detail/0470120770/104-7256663-1776748
These seven years have been incredibly busy as the ePhilanthropy Foundation has grown in its reach around the world. The Foundation has a vibrant live training series called the ePhilanthropy eTour, an online course offering series that tops 55 courses, offered in cooperation with Charity University. Our newsletter has subscribers totaling more than 30,500. We have trained more than 10,000 nonprofit staff and executives in some 12 countries. Our public and private training programs are highly regarded and highly rated. In short, it is clear that the ePhilanthropy Foundation should have a strong future.
I look forward to working with my colleagues in the coming weeks to make this a smooth transition. Following October 4, 2007 you will be able to reach me directly at either tedhart@tedhart.com (corporate) or tedhart@usa.net (personal).
As the transition is underway, a Transition Committee is working on details. The Trustees of the organization will be meeting next week. I will endeavor to keep you posted on any developments, general correspondence to the Foundation should be sent to info@ephilanthropy.org which will ensure general staff will receive your message and route it as needed. You can also contact the Foundation at 877-536-1245.
Thank you again for your support of the ePhilanthropy Foundation, the global leader in providing education and training on the efficient and ethical use of the Internet by charities around the world.
All the best,
Ted Hart Founder, President and CEO
