Charities Have New Site to Earn Karma
On-line charity site 411karma Launches
http://www.411karma.com

The founders of FatWire, one of Long Island's more high-profile technology companies started 10 years ago have set their sights on online philanthropy with 411Karma. The site allows members to build their own “karma profile,” connect with other members, start online campaigns, and collaborate within groups. These resources also enable 411Karma to go beyond the typical information available on search engines, like Google, or social networks, like MySpace, enriching personal profiles with a deeper, “karmic” side that includes where people donate money and the causes they care about,

A site member's positive actions are reflected in his growing “karma score," a value which can be shared through a “karma badge”—a graphic that can be embedded in e-mails and blogs.

411Karma is part of an important trend that leverages the viral nature of social networking sites and directs it towards charitable giving. Mark Fasciano, Founder of 411Karma believes, "Our goal is to make the ability to create an online viral campaign for raising money as easy as it is to create a page on MySpace."

411Karma.com is a sponsor of the 2007 International ePhilanthropy Awards
