Bob Carter Assumes ePhilanthropy Chairmanship
Leading Expert in Nonprofit Management and Fundraising

Bob Carter, a leading expert in nonprofit management and fundraising has been named the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the ePhilanthropy Foundation, the global leader in providing training for nonprofit organizations for the ethical and efficient use of the Internet for philanthropic purposes through education and advocacy.

Carter, who had served as Vice Chair of the Board, is President of Ketchum Inc. a national firm based in Pittsburgh that provides fundraising for colleges, universities, medical centers, youth, religious and cultural agencies. He replaces outgoing chairman Steve Delfin, Executive Director of the National Credit Union Foundation who will remain on the board as Immediate Past Chairman.

As President of Ketchum, Bob Carter leads the firm’s sales. planning and marketing teams and provides senior-level development, management and campaign counsel to a broad cross-section of gift-supported organizations throughout the United States.

In addition to his service as Chairman of the ePhilanthropy Foundation Board of Trustees, Mr. Carter has recently been elected to serve a three-year term as an Educational Partner on the Industry Advisory Council for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Mr. Carter is a Board member of several nonprofit organizations, including The Malcolm Parcel Foundation, International AFP, Gateway Rehabilitation Center as Board Chairman,  Boys’ Latin School as chairman Emeritus, and the AFP Maryland Chapter.

Mr. Carter is a graduate of the Boys' Latin School and Johns Hopkins University. He is a resident of Pittsburgh, PA and Anna Maria, Florida. His wife, Carol, serves as Vice President for University Advancement at Duquesne University.

“With Bob’s extensive background in the fundraising arena, we are very excited to have him step into this new role on the board and look forward to advancing the Foundation’s global efforts under his leadership,” said Ted Hart, President and CEO of ePhilanthropy Foundation.

Carter, who has been a trustee since 2002, stated, “Steve (Delfin) has been instrumental in the creation of many of the initiatives that are currently among our most successful. It is my goal to help create more programs and services that will enable ePhilanthropy to be of greater benefit to nonprofits around the world.”

Charities Make Faster Connections
ePhilanthropy Foundation Estimates Total Online Giving in 2005 reached $4.53 Billion
http://philanthropy.com/free/articles/v1...
by Nicole Wallace

Online giving grew sharply last year, according to a new Chronicle of Philanthropy survey. Electronic gifts to the 167 organizations that provided data for this year's survey topped $911.9- million in 2005. Donations to the 162 groups that provided figures for 2004 and 2005 were up 148.1 percent, from $366.1-million to $908.4-million last year. Online gifts more than doubled at 55 of these charities, and 90 groups achieved increases of more than 50 percent.

ePhilanthropy Editor note: The ePhilanthropy Foundation estimates that total online giving in the United States reached approximately $4.53 Billion (USD), driven by significant increases in online giving for both small and large organizations and the unprecedented use of the Internet by individuals for non-disaster and disaster support efforts including the Southeast Asian Tsunami, and multiple hurricane relief efforts in 2005. The United States represents slightly more than 50% of world-wide giving online. Global giving is estimated to have surpassed $7.5 Billion (USD).
