"Our chapters have been the key to the Society's success in using the Internet for online donations.  When the Internet was still emerging as a viable platform for electronic commerce, a number of our chapters embraced the concept early on.  From there, it has simply continued to grow along with the Internet."

Focus On: Online Fundraising Metrics
The weight of the world rests on understanding your organization's Web stats.
http://fundraisingsuccessmag.com/feature...
by Liz Murphy of RedBoots Consulting

There's no doubt that nonprofit Web sites have become serious branding and revenue channels. Compared to recent years, most organizations now are seeing double-digit increases in the number of monthly Web visits, some even a rise in donations, new members and membership renewal.

While an increase in Web traffic certainly is a positive indicator, it isn't the most vital metric for an organization looking to generate online revenue or increase online-visitor engagement.

Grassroots Nonprofit Mobilizes Support for Tree Planting Using Justgiving

by Justgiving

Last year, The Foundation for Self-Sufficiency in Central America (FSSCA) set out to plant 50,000 trees in deforested lands in El Salvador. To fund this project, Assistant Director Sean Hale needed to raise $20,000 in just a few months.

Sean discovered Justgiving, a web-based service that allows individuals to set-up personal web pages to raise funds for any nonprofit.

“What happened next was magical,” Sean said, “Using Justgiving, thousands of dollars were raised by just a handful of supporters.”

Organizations using online personal fundraising realize larger and more gifts.

“Online personal fundraising has allowed us to open up a new area of fundraising,” Sean said.

Junk Fax Prevention Act Update
Exception Allows Associations To Send Faxes To Members and Clients
http://originatortimes.com/content/templ...

Language has been restored to the United States’ ‘Junk Fax Prevention Act’ that maintains the "established business relationship" exception that allows associations and companies to send unsolicited faxes to their members and clients. The bill has been passed by the House and Senate and should be signed by the President this week. In addition to restoring the ‚established business relationship‛ exception, the bill stipulates that:

-- all unsolicited commercial faxes include an opt-out provision on the first page of the fax, providing a cost-free, 24-hour means for the recipient to request to be removed from the fax distribution list; and

-- fax numbers be obtained either directly from the recipient or from a public source to which the recipient gave the number for publication (i.e., a Web site,  advertisement or directory).

It also "grandfathers" in fax numbers in the possession of the sender at the time of enactment.  Congratulations to ASAE and the other associations and businesses that spent more than two years working to protect our ability to communicate information to members and customers.

Google Desktop
Keeping Track Of All Your Documents, Email, Media, Bookmarks, etc.
http://desktop.google.com

Up until recently, most of us tried to organize things by creating folders to group similar items together. It works reasonably well for some files but its cumbersome and slow. Google has created a tool that conquers this problem once and for all, and it's free.
