Major African-American Estate Transfer Projected
Ranging Between $1.1 trillion To $3.4 trillion
http://www.bc.edu/research/swri/meta-ele...
A recent report issued by the Boston College Center on Wealth and Philanthropy (CWP) projects that the wealth transfer from African-American households via estates in the 55-year period between 2001 and 2055 will range between $1.1 trillion to $3.4 trillion (in 2003 U.S. dollars).
The report, Wealth Transfer Estimates Among African-American Households, examines statistical patterns and trends in income, wealth, and philanthropic giving, plus the capacity of these households to make charitable gifts or leave bequests during the period studied.
The net worth of African-American households grew to $1 trillion in 2001, but their growth in wealth was outpaced by that of other households. CWP estimated that the total wealth transfer for the nation in 1991 ranged between $46.3 to $153.7 trillion.
The full report, which was funded by the Twenty-First Century Foundation, is available at: http://www.bc.edu/research/swri/meta-elements/pdf/aawte2.pdf
