Overview of the ePhilanthropy Foundation
Background
The ePhilanthropy Foundation is the global leader in providing training to charities for the ethical and efficient use the Internet for philanthropic purposes through education and advocacy. The Foundation was founded in 2000 by nonprofit and for profit organizations dedicated to fostering ethical and efficient philanthropic practices on the Internet. The Foundation is a 501(c) 3 organization, and provides educational services via conferences and seminars, eLearning courses, and printed articles on its Web site. The Foundation is supported through monetary donations, volunteer labor, materials and services.
All of the Foundation’s educational programs are grounded in the Code of Ethical Online Philanthropic Practices, the first of its kind and currently published in English, French, and Spanish. The Foundation works to accomplish a number of goals:
Help all nonprofit organizations utilize Internet best practices in building and enhancing relationships with supporters;
Work to build trust among donors in their Internet practices;
Promote ethical online practices; and
Collaborate with groups and organizations to strengthen the ePhilanthropy industry and inspire donors to supports charities via the Internet.
As organizations enter headlong into the new medium of the Internet, the Foundation works to provide standards, information, models, and assistance for secure online transactions between the public and non-profit organizations.
Mission
The ePhilanthropy Foundation is devoted to fostering the SECURE, PRIVATE, and ETHICAL use of the Internet for philanthropic purposes. The Foundation also believes it is critical that the Internet’s integrity and security be promoted, and that the public’s confidence in making online philanthropic transactions continues to grow.
Services and Tools
The ePhilanthropy Foundation has provided online and offline educational services to more than 3,000 individuals representing over 1,200 organizations throughout North America, Australia, UK, and South Africa. It is currently launching its Code of Ethics Self-Test to enable organizations to quickly assess their compliance with the Code online.
The Foundation has also achieved the following accomplishments:

Issued the ePhilanthropy Code of Ethical Online Philanthropic Practices
Produced a bi-weekly eZine email to update readers of changes in the ePhilanthropy marketplace
Developed online and conference/seminar based educational programs
Created the and manages the professional designation “ePhilanthropy Master Trainer”
Leadership
An international board of 34 volunteer trustees from leading non-profit and private sector organizations governs the Foundation. The Foundation works in partnership with individuals, corporations, government bodies, associations, foundations, and organizations to help and execute successful ePhilanthropy education and advocacy programs.
