Steve Delfin has been unanimously elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the ePhilanthropy Foundation. Mr. Delfin heads the global Community Relations program for Booz Allen Hamilton and is headquartered in McLean VA.
Steve Delfin joined Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. in April 2000 as the firm's Director of Community Relations. Delfin, a veteran public relations and fund raising executive, carries responsibility for furthering Booz Allen's already strong reputation as a leader in corporate citizenship, employee volunteerism and community service.
Since the inception of the community relations program in 1991, the number of Booz Allen staff actively involved in the community has grown to over 3,000. Around the globe Booz Allen staff tutor and mentor school children, serve breakfast in shelters, rehabilitate houses, support the art compete in charity events, and provide a range of pro-bono support for charitable organizations.
Delfin's 25-year career includes stints in senior management positions with the National Association for Home Care, YouthPower (formerly “Just Say No” International), the American Red Cross National Headquarters, United Way of America, and Doremus Public Relations. He most recently managed his own consulting firm, providing strategic public relations council, fund raising support, and other marketing communications services to non-profit organizations, health care providers, trade associations and corporations.
A highly respected leader in the both the non-profit and business communities, Delfin has delivered hundreds of speeches, seminars and workshops on a range of topics. These include corporate social responsibility, charities and corporate sponsorships, "cause-related marketing", the Internet and public education, volunteer leadership development, crisis communication, media relations, and fund raising.
Delfin serves on the Board of America's Charities, a federation of the nation's most prestigious national charitable organizations working together to raise funds through workplace fund raising. At America’s Charities he also chairs the Nominating Committee and is a member of the Long Range Planning and New Ventures Committees. Elfin is also Volunteer Executive Director of The Neediest Kids, serves on the Membership Committee of INDEPENDENT SECTOR, is on the Executive Board of the Equity Office Corporate Challenge Benefiting Special Olympics Virginia, and is a member of the U.S. Advisory Committee for CharitySkills.org a U.K. charitable organization. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the American University School of Communication where he taught public relations writing and strategy.
A native Washingtonian, Delfin graduated from the University of Maryland School of Journalism and lives in Fairfax, VA. He and his wife, Jill, have a daughter, Jessica, who lives in the Philadelphia area, and a son, Taylor, a sophomore at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
