From His Personal Email Address Book More Than 100 People Give Online
by Bryan Cuthill

An Open Letter from Bryan Cuthill:

I am a runner generally speaking.  This weekend, one of the runs I'll be
doing is the "Run for the Cure" here in Vancouver.  While I have little
difficulty "asking" non-acquaintances for support for various causes, I'm a
bit shy of asking in person - my own confederates to support my personal
causes.  Thus, when it came to the "Run for the Cure", I was particularly
gratified to see that the designers had allowed for my soliciting my email
correspondents.

The used system allowed participants like me to send an email to my
acquaintances through my supplying their respective email addresses to the
site in specified fields.  Instead, however, I simply copied the URL from
the donations page to an email which I Bcc's to approximately 400 of those
persons with whom I communicate by email.  To my surprise and delight,
approximately 25% of the recipients reported to me by reply email that they
had made a donation per my request.  That's what I call leveraging one's
donation !!

Here's what I sent them:

Hi there folks:

On Oct 6th, I'll be "Running for the Cure" here in Vancouver.  As you may know, the Canadian Breast Cancer Society and the CIBC sponsor this event across Canada each year to raise money towards finding a cure for breast cancer.  If you'd like to help, you could click on the URL below, which will take you to the "Run For the Cure" sponsorship page.

From there, enter:
* "Bryan" in the First Name  box
* "Cuthill" in the Last Name box
* "Vancouver" in the Run Site box

After that, the system will walk you through
the online donation process.

Thanks in advance for your support:  Here is
