Tavernise to head Cisco's foundation

by Todd Cohen

Peter Tavernise, who for three months headed philanthropic giving in the
Triangle for Cisco Systems before being laid off in April 2001, has
been named executive director of the $130 million-asset Cisco Foundation
   in San Jose, Calif.

A former program officer for the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in
Winston Salem and former fund-raiser at Duke University, Tavernise
will manage the daily operations for the foundation, the funding arm of
   Cisco's corporate philanthropy.

For the past year, under a Cisco program that pays former employees for
nonprofit work, Tavernise has advised Public Allies, the Durham chapter
of a national group that places interns with nonprofits.
