NonProfit Times Study Shows Online Giving Matches ePhilanthropy Foundation Estimates
Foundation Estimates 2003 Giving Reached $1.9 Billion in USA

The ePhilanthropy Foundation estimates that total USA giving online in 2003 reached $1.9 Billion. A recent NonProfit Times survey found a similar estimate at 'nearly $2 billion in 2003', which was more than 60 percent above the amount raised in 2002, according to an online survey of readers of The NonProfit Times . There was also a projected greater than 55 percent increase in the percentage of organizations that attempted to raise money online when the first half of 2003 is compared to 2002.

Deadline for Petersberg Prize Extended - Global

The Development Gateway Foundation is extending its search for the ICT (information and communication technologies) projects, policies, programs and individuals that have had the greatest development impact. It is resetting the deadline for its global Petersberg Prize competition to March 22, 2004, allowing more time for the submission process in this first year of the award.

Online search engine leader Google Inc. added 1 billion pages to its Web index. Even with the expansion, Google isn't close to capturing the constantly expanding constellation of online content. By some estimates, there are 10 billion pages on the Web.
