These new products increase noise immunity, and allow for longer cable lengths. The RXTX Repeaters/Converters may also be beneficial in new installations where a long cable length may be necessary. The industry trend has moved to differential signals, due to the inherently better electrical noise immunity. The RXTX Converter will convert your encoder with a single ended output (Open Collector, Pull-up, or Push-Pull) to be used in an application where differential signals are required. Likewise, it also works the opposite way by converting differential signals back to a single ended, open collector output. This can be helpful when the input characteristics differ on the devices, or when attempting to operate multiple loads from one encoder. So the RXTX Converter can enable your devices with different outputs to be connected, and can properly terminate differential signals to reduce signal distortions. The RXTX Repeater functions in a similar manner. It takes the differential signals through the RXTX circuitry, and repeats the differential signal for data transmission over long distances. It also can increase output current drive capabilities, in order to drive multiple receivers. Moreover, the RXTX Repeater properly terminates the differential signals, to reduce signal distortions. Both units require power from an 8 to 24 VDC source, and generate a 5 VDC output to power an encoder and transmit its signals. They are easy to install, and may be the solution to inexpensively update your system for better noise immunity, or extend your cable requirements on your new system.
