Types of Tablet Computers

We offer several different types of wireless tablet computers, each with their own benefits and advantages.  All tablets have a touch screen that allows you to input data with your finger or a stylus.

Webpads run Windows CE 3.0, CE.net, or Linux and are primarily used to access the  Internet,  as a thin client, or to run a specific application.  The 802.11 wireless connections to the Internet, servers and your network allow for data storage and retrieval.  They typically use Compact Flash (CF) cards for storage since they do not have a hard disk drive.  All offer resistive touch screen displays that can be used with a stylus or your finger.

Tablet Computers are complete computer systems in a slate format.  They offer your choice of Windows operating systems, processors, memory and hard disk capacities.  All offer resistive touch screen displays that can be used with a stylus or your finger.

Tablet PC's are a new type of tablet computer that meet the Microsoft Tablet PC platform specification and run Windows XP for Tablet PC.  They are available in both slate and as convertible laptops which transform from the traditional clamshell to a slate format.  The “ink” capabilities of the Tablet PC’s offer superb handwriting capabilities.  You can write on the screen just like on a pad.  If you want to convert to text you can, but many prefer to use “ink” as ink.  The speech recognition is quite impressive, with best results using a headset.
