Specialty Foods Manufacturer
Collaborates Creatively With Other Producers

Paul and Kasha Ostbloom Moostard (moose-tard) is the name of Kasha and Paul Ostblooms specialty food production company.    The name is somewhat of a marketing grand slam - hard to forget and easy to distinguish their products from others in the marketplace.

Kasha jokes that the first Moostard product was the result of a mistake in intepreting her grandmothers recipe.  Her first product, taken to a party was a hit.  She had substituted spruce tip syrup for corn syrup and sugar.   The product was a hit with requests from guests for more.    That was nearly 6 years ago.

Kasha has a background in marketing, advertising and graphics and has always had a interest in culinary arts.      All of this comes in handy as she and Paul run a growing and successful business. You likely have seen their product at food and gift shows, at local specialty food shows, retail outlets or even at the Fairbanks Farmers Market where Kasha got her start.

Moostards has 13 different flavors of mustard – Spruce, Birch, Ginger, Cranberry, 4 beer mustards*, Alder Smoked (naturally smoked mustard seeds), Curried Apricot,  Dill and Chili (5 different chilis) Technically these are all mustards but can be used as rubs, dips, glazes and marinades and can be used more like a relish with great versatility in cooking.

  • Fairbanks Lager-Smoked
  •  Old 55 Pale Ale - with Roast Garlic
  • Coldfoot Pilsner - with Peppers
What distinguishes Kasha and Moostard is their approach to product development and marketing.  They have a close working relationship with Silver Gulch Brewery, where Kasha has long used some of the micro-brew products as ingredients in her mustard.   Her commercial kitchen was located at the Fox Roadhouse and is down the hall from the Brewery.   Now, the new Silver Gulch Restaurant is utilizing Moostard as rubs, dips and marinades on the menu items.  The co-marketing effort of their regional products is a win-win in sales and business development where they can share resources in their food and beverage production companies.   Kasha also sources birch syrup, berries and other Alaskan products from other producers to create new products or product pairings.

Kasha is interested in collaborating with other producers on transportation and packaging issues and is always interested in collaborating on new products utilizing Moostard.
