ALUMNI HOST PROGRAM

MIT / CRE

January 2007

Program: Alumni Host Program

Purpose: To provide prospective applicants interested in the CRE (and unable to participate in the "Student Host" program due to their geographic location) with an established format for meeting with a designated regional alum for the purpose of learning more about the CRE.  The program would serve to make the CRE more accessible to, and promote a favorable image with, prospective applicants.

Format:  Prospective applicants would use an on-line request form to specify a preferred location from a list of alumni host locations.  Prospective applicants would attach a current resume as an introduction and to facilitate the discussion.  Prospective applicants would then be referred by the program facilitator to contact a designated regional alumni host in order to receive answers to questions, and get a personal perspective from the alumni host relative to the alumni’s position/career path and why the CRE has been important to that path.  The format of the exchange could be a meeting in person or telephonic discussion, at the alumni host’s discretion and based on locational factors.  The Alumni Host would coordinate with the program facilitator to confirm that contact has been made with the prospective applicant.
