Woman sues homebuilder for $75 million over black mold in her home

(West Chester-AP) -- A suburban Cincinnati woman who says dangerous mold drove her from her house has filed a $75 million lawsuit against the homebuilder.

Sheila Marshall of West Chester Township says she abandoned her $250,000 house in August on her doctor's advice.

Marshall blames the mold on faulty construction and water leaks and is suing Fischer Homes in Butler County Common Pleas Court.

The company denies Marshall's allegations.

Marshall's lawsuit is one of a growing number of toxic mold cases. In the past two years, several Ohio schools have had mold problems. One Sylvania elementary school was closed for about five months for cleanup.

A Texas jury last year awarded a family $32 million in a mold lawsuit.
