TRIATHLETES PLANNING ESCAPE FROM DELAWARE PRISON!
Slots Still Available for Escape From Fort Delaware Triathlon

Triathletes enter the water at the 2001 Escape From Fort Delaware
Want to try a different kind of triathlon?  Consider the 2nd Annual Escape From Fort Delaware Triathlon, to be held on Saturday, June 8th at 11:00 AM.  This USAT-Sanctioned, Olympic distance "escape" begins at a former Civil War Prison located in the middle of the Delaware River on Pea Patch Island.

After checking in at the gazebo area in the beautiful historic town of Delaware City, you willl be transported by ferry to Fort Delaware.  Before entering the water for your designated wave start, you will march between Union soldiers’ gun arch and a bugle fanfare.  Your in-water start will be signaled by a huge Civil War cannon blast.  After swimming the challenging river (wetsuits are mandatory) directly to the mainland, you will bike a flat and beautiful course among wetlands with a view of the Delaware River.  Your race will conclude in the heart of town with an out and back run.

The post race party will feature several vendors and live music by The Snap – one of Delaware’s best bands.  This race is a great one to bring your family and friends as there are several beautiful viewing sections for the swim, bike and run.

This year’s race is limited to the first 500 entrants and it is filling fast.  Remember, wetsuits are mandatory.
