Budget Car and Truck Rental is saluting firefighters and police officers across the United States by providing them with a special rate of a Penny For A Day for local truck rentals on the first four Wednesdays of October 2001. Budget is extending this offer in honor and remembrance of the firefighters and police officers who served during and after the terrorist attacks of September 11.

Starting this coming Monday, firefighters and police officers can book moving trucks 15 feet or larger from participating Budget locations at the Penny For A Day rate for Wednesday, October 3, 10, 17, and 24, with unlimited mileage. To participate, firefighters and police officers need to log on to www.budget.com, complete a short registration form, and show their department identification cards at their pickup locations.

"With October being Fire Prevention Month, we thought this would be a perfect time for us to continue to show our gratitude and support for these men and women who risk their lives every day to keep us safe," said Mark Sotir, president of Budget Group, Inc.

There were over 248,000 firefighters and 1,060,000 police officers serving the United States in 2000, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. As part of the national disaster relief effort, Budget has donated cars and trucks to New York firefighters and their families and continues to work closely with the American Red Cross and other organizations.

The Penny For A Day rate is subject to vehicle availability. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Vehicle must be returned to renting location except where permitted. Customers should check their automobile insurance policies for rental vehicle coverage. Rates may not be combined with any other promotional offer. Taxes, surcharges, refueling and optional items are extra. Local rental and age requirements apply.
