Vehicle Details: Chrysler Uconnect
Check out one of the best infotainment systems available, updated for 2017

One feature spread across the majority of Fiat Chrysler Automobile models is consistently met with praise: the Uconnect infotainment system.

The Uconnect system controls various aspects of the vehicle. These systems include functions as simple as controlling the radio and stereo system, as well as more complex features like making hands-free phone calls or operating phone apps. Exactly which functions are supported depends on which version of Uconnect is installed and the hardware available in the vehicle.

Of course, the version of Uconnect changes slightly from brand to brand. One of the most interesting variations—a feature called Jeep Off-Road Pages—will appear in Jeep vehicles. This is not a kind of phone service, but instead a system that monitors and displays crucial information about the Grand Cherokee’s off-road capabilities and performance, including advanced items like steering angle and the vehicle’s terrain mode, as well as more basic things such as coolant and oil temperature.

Uconnect has been called intuitive and incredibly intelligent—a trend which Fiat Chrysler strives to continue as it introduces the fourth generation of Uconnect. This system will debut in the 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger.

The new system offers a number of improvements over the old version, including a quicker startup, a stronger processor and a new 8.4-inch touchscreen that provides a sharper image and allows for multi-touch gestures. The new Uconnect also adds standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, allowing any smartphone user to connect to their system. This even includes Siri Voice Control and voice-activated Google searches, so drivers never have to take their hands off the wheel.

Eventually Fiat Chrysler will deliver the next level of Uconnect to all of its vehicles, but for now if you want the latest version of this highly-lauded system, you will have to choose from the 2017 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger or Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles.
