The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan, on sale here atPerkins Motors in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is for drivers who don’t want to compromise. Offering strong performance, segment-first features, exciting handing and a cabin that made the Ward’s “10 Best Interiors” list, the 2015 200 is a Consumers Digest “Best Buy” and an AutoTrader “Must Test Drive Vehicle.”
Starting at an MSRP of $21,800, the 200 is available in LX, Limited, 200S and 200C variants. The performance-oriented 200S (MSRP $24,825) offers four-cylinder and V6 powertrains and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. In their review, AutoTrader editors said “…
the 200 is so good that it will forever change the way you think of Chrysler and will have you questioning the features, prominence and performance of every other midsized sedan on the road, even the Kia Optima,” and “We just weren’t expecting how much fun the 200 is to drive."
Coupe-like proportions, a dynamic stance, sculpted curves, and aggressive wheel-to-body proportions, show the attitude of the 200. The 200S adds fog lamps below the LED-accented bi-function halogen projector headlamps, and you’ll find body-colored door handles, too. The 200S also includes heated, power-adjustable exterior mirrors; dual integrated exhaust tips; and tinted acoustic windshield glass that helps minimize road noise and maximize tranquility. A set of 18-inch Satin Carbon aluminum wheels is standard, and 19-inch Hyper Black aluminum wheels are available too. Gloss Black exterior accents surrounding the upper and lower grille, headlamps and side windows are exclusive to the 200S.
The 2015 Chrysler 200 earned a best-possible “Top Safety Pick+” designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (when equipped with available front crash prevention), on top of a “5-Star Overall” rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Standard safety systems include Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, antilock brakes with Brake Assist, an Electronic Parking Brake, supplemental side-curtain front and rear airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and available Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection.
The 200S is one of the only models in the segment that offers all-wheel drive, an option lacking in the Kia Optima, Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, MAZDA6 and Hyundai Sonata. This highly advanced AWD system features a segment-first fully disconnecting rear axle that allows the 200 to run in true front-wheel drive when all-wheel drive isn’t needed, maximizing fuel efficiency. An all-wheel drive sport suspension provides excellent maneuverability.
Engine choices start with a 2.4-liter Tigershark® MultiAir® II inline four-cylinder with 184 hp and 173 lb/ft of torque. Also available is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that ups the output to a segment-best 295 hp and 262 lb/ft of torque. Both engines are paired with a segment-leading nine-speed automatic transmission that contributes to an EPA-estimated 36 mpg highway with the four-cylinder and 32 mpg highway with the powerful V6. That’s more power and better fuel efficiency than the Toyota Camry, regardless of engine choice.
Inside, the 200S includes standard leather-trimmed seats, black chrome interior accents, courtesy map lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, the Bluetooth-compatible Uconnect® 5.0 system, and a six-speaker audio system with USB and auxiliary inputs. Available packages allow you to add even more amenities. A Comfort Group bundles dual-zone temperature control, Smart Remote Start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, rear heat and AC ducts and the ParkView® rear backup camera. The Premium Lighting Group brings HID headlamps, dedicated LED daytime running lamps and LED foglamps. Also available is a Navigation and Sound Group with a seven-inch Thin Film Transistor instrument cluster, 506-watt audio system, and the excellent Uconnect® 8.4 infotainment system with navigation and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
