Five Colorado Destinations to Ring in The New Year
Celebrate the start of the New Year in Colorado

Colorado is one of the most naturally beautiful states in the country, especially in winter. Residents and visitors alike feel the magical holiday spirit in the air throughout the state, making it the perfect place to spend New Year’s Eve.
Noon Year’s Eve
Families in the Denver area have a variety of events to choose from this New Year’s Eve. Earlier in the day, the Children’s Museum of Denver is hosting Noon Year’s Eve, which is perfect for families with young children who can’t stay up to the actual stroke of midnight. Children can pretend they are watching the ball drop in Times Square every hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After the children count down to the ball drop, they can make their own fireworks noises by stomping on giant sheets of bubble wrap. There will also be food, craft activities and other entertainment to round out the celebration. To learn more about this event, and others happening in Denver, please visit
New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade & Fireworks
If you live near Telluride, bundle up and make your way to the Telluride Ski Resort for the New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade & Fireworks that begin at 6:30 p.m. Next, head downtown to take part in the countdown to 2015 that will begin at 11:30 p.m. in front of the Courthouse on Main Street. Master of Ceremonies Mayor Stu Fraser will lead the ceremony as visitors say goodbye to 2014. Ajax Tavern and Element 47
There are a variety of fantastic options for celebrating New Year’s Eve in Aspen this year. One of the hottest restaurants in Aspen, Element 47 is offering a four-course menu that highlights the finest ingredients masterfully prepared by Chef Bryan Moscatello. If you make a reservation at Ajax Tavern for the early seating period you can enjoy the three-course menu and still be finished with enough time to head outside to view the 9 p.m. fireworks show. If you would like to attend the more luxurious and leisurely late seating at the Ajax Tavern, you can view the fireworks from the restaurant while enjoying your meal.
New Year’s Eve at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa
This Boulder party offers guests a night of fine dining featuring a variety of delectable Brazilian dishes, luxurious champagne and a midnight balloon drop. Revelers can dance the night away to the samba music of the local band Sambadende and enjoy the live entertainment that includes professional samba dancers, capoeira performances and acrobats. If you would like to book an overnight stay to make the holiday experience truly spectacular, or if you would like to find out more information about attending the New Year’s Eve party, please visit
Vail Holidaze New Year’s Eve
“A perfect place to bring the family to spend time together during the holidays, Vail transforms into a winter wonderland each year, with decorations and tree lights lining the pedestrian streets,” according to “Carolers are a common sight, and even the buses light up with season's greetings.”
On New Year’s Eve revelers head to Golden Peak at 6:15 p.m. to enjoy one of Vail’s most treasured traditions, the torchlight parade, when skiers and snowboarders descend the mountain illuminated with glow sticks. After the parade is finished, a fireworks show will light up the sky to commemorate the New Year. For directions and other information about this event, please visit!schedule/cwo8.
If you are lucky enough to spend the holiday season in Colorado, any of the events would be the perfect way to ring in the New Year.
