Chrysler continues its successful luxury-for-less onslaught on the automotive industry with the 2015 200 sedan that's on sale here atPerkins Motors in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The premium 300 sedan and Town & Country minivan give drivers numerous standard features that cost extra in competing models, and so does the new midsize 2015 200 sedan, which provides more of what drivers want without breaking the bank.
The new 2015 200 sedan has already won a Ward’s “10 Best Interiors” award and been named a “Must Test Drive Vehicle” by AutoTrader.com, whose editors said the 200 “is so good that it will forever change the way you think of Chrysler and will have you questioning the features, prominence and performance of every other midsized sedan on the road, even the Kia Optima.”
The 2015 Chrysler 200C (MSRP $25,995) sits atop an all-new Chrysler 200 line that also includes 200 LX (MSRP $21,700), 200 Limited and 200S variants.
For 2015, the 200 has a contemporary, coupe-like profile. Sculpted curves and aggressive wheel-to-body proportions give it an aggressive appearance that looks far more expensive than the MSRP reflects. Bi-function halogen headlamps with LEDs; foglamps; chrome-accented door handles; power-adjustable and heated exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators; and tinted acoustic glass are all standard, as are 17-inch Satin Silver aluminum wheels. Both 18-inch and 19-inch wheels are also available. The available Premium Lighting Group adds High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, as well as LED Daytime Running Lamps and LED foglamps.
Performance in the 200C is best-in-class, and Chrysler further increased fuel economy with the addition of fuel-saving Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology. This fully-automatic system cuts fuel and turns off the engine when the sedan is at a complete stop, seamlessly restarting it when you want to get going again.
The 200C offers two engine choices. The first is a 2.4-liter TigerShark MultiAir II four-cylinder that sends 184 hp and 173 lb/ft of torque through a segment-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain returns an EPA-estimated 23 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. Also available is the much-lauded 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which kicks the power up to 295 hp and 262 lb/ft of torque through the nine-speed automatic and returns an EPA-estimated 32 mpg highway.
Another major advantage of the 200C over its competitors is its available all-wheel drive. No Accord, Camry, Altima, Malibu or Sonata offers the all-season, all-conditions traction and performance you get with this segment-exclusive system, which features a fully disconnecting rear axle that improves fuel economy by disengaging completely when all-wheel drive is not needed.
When evaluating the cabin of the 2015 200C, WardsAuto World magazine Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter said, “Designers paid extraordinary attention to detail in the new Chrysler 200C interior design and it shows. Specially engineered wood veneer sweeps across the instrument panel and has a wonderful natural feel.” Fit and finish are incredible, and no detail was overlooked. The 200C is standard with dual-zone automatic temperature control with micron air filter; a seven-inch Thin Film Transistor driver information cluster; footwell lighting; passive entry; leather-trimmed seating; heated front seats; an eight-way power driver seat and a six-way power passenger seat. A Uconnect® 8.4N infotainment system with navigation is available, as is a Premium Group package that adds a heated, two-tone leather-covered steering wheel; premium leather for the ventilated front seats; and wood/bronze accents.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2015 200 a best-possible 2014 “Top Safety Pick+” rating when equipped with available front crash prevention system, and every 200 comes equipped with an abundance of safety features. In fact, the 200 offers more safety and security features than any model in its segment. Drivers who choose the available SafetyTec Package get various class-exclusive features, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, as well as Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, Lane Departure Warning Plus, SmartBeam headlamps and more.
The 2015 200C delivers all this and more for much less than comparably equipped competitors, and it does it with comfort and style. Come in today to see and drive the new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan for yourself today.
