Opening new retail locations in the 4th quarter is a great way to bring in additional profits.  The combination of new store sales along with the holiday spike can make a dramatic impact on profitability.
 
There are many factors to preparing for a new location, especially in the 4th quarter.  Here is what you should keep in mind.

1.  Open by Thanksgiving or shortly thereafter to allow your store to be “on the map” for the holiday rush.

B.     Ordering fixtures: 4-8 weeks
 
C.     City Permitting: 3-4 weeks
 
D.     Sales Training:  1-2 weeks
 
E.      Inventory Procurement:  3-4 weeks
 
F.      Planning Advertising Campaigns:  4-6 weeks
 
G.     Store Organization & Merchandising:  1 week
 
H.     Sign Manufacturing and Installation:  4 weeks
 
3.  Make it EASY.  Choose  vendors that provide turn-key       services such as permitting, delivery,  and installation to simplify the entire process.
