The Angelique welcomes 31 passengers and 7 crew.

On the deck of the Angelique, Captain Mike McHenry is enjoying one of his chef’s fabulous blueberry muffins baked fresh in the galley when we asked, “Do you have a favorite anchorage?”

Passengers row ashore to explore islands, quaint villages and beaches along Maine's coast.

He said, “A favorite?! That’s tough. I guess I’d pick Tom Cod Cove. I like it because it’s fairly tight – surrounded by woods and trees and there are not a whole lot of boats there. We always see porpoises and seals because it’s right off of Holbrook Island Nature Center – that’s part of Maine’s sanctuary system. It’s just beautiful. There’s so much wildlife.

“As a captain, I like to treat my guests to these beautiful spots where they can poke around, stretch their legs, go exploring. I have a whole collection up my sleeve!”

Captain Mike's passion for Maine's natural history makes him a great captain.

Every day during the sailing season, Maine windjammer guests have the opportunity to experience pristine landscapes, quaint villages and uninhabited islands. After a week on the Penobscot Bay, guests also have a hard time choosing a favorite!
