Want to Reach Senior Executives?
Try the Internet!
Where do senior executives go when they want news? The Wall Street Journal online recently commissioned a study by Harris Interactive to answer that very question. Not surprisingly, they found senior executives are turning to the Internet more and more. In fact, their use of Internet news sites increased 29% percent according to the poll, while use of all other news sources decreased. Reading news for business purposes was also listed as the top reason senior executives surf the Internet. We’re presuming that day trading was not one of the options listed.
Other interesting facts include:
* Nearly 100% have Internet access at home, up from 88% in 2000 * They spend a total of 13.4 hours per week online, up from 20% in 2000 * More than 8.4 of their online hours are spent on activities not related to e-mail * Their top three personal uses: booking airline tickets, buying books, making hotel reservations
Although it’s likely that part of this increase is the result of younger, Internet-savvy executives replacing older ones who didn’t want to learn about it, the fact remains that the Internet continues to pervade every phase of our lives. Increasingly, it’s where people go when they need to know.
