Since January Jewish Women’s Aid, UK has launched new publicity materials including a wonderful graphic poster (attached) designed by a 16-year-old girl, an informative leaflet, and a tear off card with the phone number of both the organization's helpline and the UK national domestic violence helpline.
The Jewish Women's Aid has held a number of awareness raising meetings and fundraising events including cookery demonstrations and music evenings.
In February, our Chair Mildred Levison and trustee Jane Leaver addressed Rabbis and Rebbitzens at the annual conference of United Synagogue Rabbis; Copies of our publicity materials were requested and each Rabbi was presented with an information packet about JWA, including a special leaflet about Jewish perspectives on DV, as well as guidance on how to deal with DV in the context of couple counselling and individual counselling.
Finally, we lobbied the Law Commission (which advises the UK government on changes in legislation), about changes related to DV legislation. We have been actively recruiting and training volunteers to operate the help line and to act as ambassadors and publicists. Hopefully they will continue to provide fresh ideas and enthusiasm.
