PAVEL & BLAUER TOGETHER
SPECIAL
WEEKEND SEMINAR

Pavel
Tsatsouline & Tony Blauer team up for a dynamic conditioning seminar
integrating
Kettlebell drills and
SPEAR System drills. The focus will be on core stability and
strengthening exercises as they apply to balance, muscle recruitment and
stability.
Training will alternate between
Kettlebell sets and
SPEAR
System strengthening drills evolving into tactical applications for extreme
close quarter conflict.
Both trainers, well known in the tactical community, are combining
drills and research to provide the warrior athlete with targeted training
that'll take their extreme close quarter strength & confidence to new
levels. OPEN TO ANY COMBATIVE ATHLETE!
Don't
miss this unique opportunity.

About the S.P.E.A.R. System
In the field of Close Quarters Combat and Defensive Tactics
Instruction there has long been a widespread lack of understanding of the
neurophysiological effects of fear and adrenaline, and the so-called “fight or
flight” response. An understanding of the body’s responses to ambush is vitally
important to developing an effective Defensive Tactics Program. In times of
danger, in the ambush moment, in the shock and surprise of a real world attack,
one simple law applies: physiology rules.
Over the past 20 years,
Tony
Blauer, the owner and CEO of
Blauer
Tactical Confrontation Management Systems (BTCMS), has dissected the
realities of violence from virtually every conceivable perspective:
psychologically, emotionally and physically. Based on this empirical research,
Blauer has created the
S.P.E.A.R. System
™: “the first behaviorally inspired method of self protection” ever
developed, or as he prefers to say, “behaviorally inspired— genetically wired.”
S.P.E.A.R. is an acronym for Spontaneous Protection Enabling Accelerated
Response, which is the ultimate aim of the system— responding more readily and
effectively to the threat of violence.
Modern research has demonstrated that the S.P.E.A.R. System™
is based on the facts of neurophysiology. Instead of relying on the cognitively
based muscle memory techniques common in the vast majority of defensive tactics
programs, the S.P.E.A.R. System™ utilizes reflexive, instinctive movements to
create a platform from which to first react to and then respond to an assault.
If the goal of your department’s Defensive Tactics Program is to better prepare
your officers to respond to and survive sudden, aggressive close quarters
assaults, you need to be incorporating the S.P.E.A.R. System™.

About Tactical Kettlebell
A ‘kettlebell’ is a cast iron weight that looks like a
cannonball with a handle, a PT mainstay in the Russian spec ops community.
Kettlebells are compact, inexpensive, virtually indestructible, and can be used
anywhere. They address all of the
tactical fitness attributes with great degree of specificity. The Soviet armed
forces strength-training manual pronounced kettlebell training to be “one of
the most effective means of strength development” representing “a new era in
the development of human strength-potential”.
The ‘low tech/high concept’ kettlebell has been documented
by Russian scientists to deliver all around tactical fitness. Voropayev (1983) observed two groups of
subjects over a period of a few years.
A standard battery of the armed forces PT tests was used: pullups, a
standing broad jump, a 100m sprint, and a 1k run. The control group followed a typical military oriented physical
training program that emphasized the above exercises. The experimental group just lifted kettlebells. In spite of the lack of practice on the tested
drills, the KB group showed better scores in every one of them

KETTLEBELL RESEARCH
Vinogradov &
Lukyanov (1986) found a very high correlation between the results posted in a
kettlebell lifting competition and a great range of dissimilar tests: strength,
measured with the three powerlifts and grip strength; strength endurance,
measured with pullups and parallel bar dips; general endurance, determined by a
1000 meter run; work capacity and balance, measured with special tests.
Soviet scientists
stated that kettlebells improve balance, coordination, and agility (Luchkin,
1947, Laputin, 1973).
Kettlebells develop
professional applied qualities and general physical preparedness (Zikov et al,
1986, Griban et al, 1990).
Kettlebell lifting
technique can be mastered in one or two sessions and one can start intense
training during the second and even first week (Dvorkin, 2001).
S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM Research
BLAUER TACTICAL
SYSTEMS, Inc. research into the startle/flinch phenomena has spawned one of the
most important evolutions in close quarter training: the S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM, which utilizes the speed and reliability of the
startle/flinch reflex to convert the sudden attack into a tactical counter.
The system is
behaviorally based and relies on physiological principles. Most important is
that the system is a conduit or bridge to the DT program or tactics the officer
is skilled in. In other words, this isn’t a new 'muscle-memory' system;
therefore it will not interfere with any prior training or use of force
procedure.
The S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM is absolutely necessary and crucial for close quarter
confidence, because it bases its speed and effectiveness on hard-wired
components within your survival system so that under extreme pressure, it will
also be more reliable than ‘complex motor skill’ techniques.
This process makes it
an extremely simple system to learn or teach so that professionals from any
branch of law enforcement (LEO’s, UC, SWAT, CORRECTIONS) as well as soldiers
have a researched, tactically comprehensive system to penetrate and dominate
the close quarter confrontation.

"I have
participated in several related schools during my career and have never
witnessed a combative system like Tony Blauer's, nor have I experienced someone
with such a deep desire for his student's to learn"

"The S.P.E.A.R.
SYSTEM is a superbly researched tactic that is easily learned ... without a
doubt, those who attended the seminar are much better prepared."

About Pavel
Pavel Tsatsouline, Master of Sports, is a former Soviet
Spetsnaz PT instructor and the chief instructor for Tactical Strength, Inc. Pavel
has authored seven books on physical conditioning and was nationally ranked in
the Russian military/law enforcement applied strength sport of kettlebell
lifting.
…if I were to recommend one Physical Training program to
develop a Marine's overall strength and fighting capability, it would be one
prescribed by Pavel Tsatsouline. His
exercise principles are well researched, easy to implement, and focus directly
on a functional end-state: high caliber efficiency. …stop looking for a better piece of equipment or diet supplement
and get 'Pavelized.'
—
George H. Bristol, Lt. Col., USMC, Commander, 3rd Reconnaissance
Battalion, Founder Marine Corps Martial Arts Program
The exposure to this method of physical training was
outstanding, as was Pavel’s method of instruction. For tactical operators the use of the kettlebell… is the best
form of PT I have experienced.
