Updating a well-loved premium crossover is no easy task for an automaker, especially when said crossover started earning high sales volumes and countless awards right from its sales launch. But, update it they have, and for 2013, the Buick Enclave is enhanced and better than ever.

A few years after its sales launch, engineers, designers and product planners at Buick have completed evolving the popular Enclave to include new styling, features and technologies while maintaining the attributes that have made it a success from the get-go.

“The 2013 Enclave advances the award-winning design, craftsmanship and technology that reintroduced Buick to a new generation of customers,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. “We evolved the interior and exterior design, increased luxury amenities and materials, and engineered purposeful technologies that will make the Enclave continue to resonate with luxury crossover owners.”

When it hits showrooms, the Enclave will boast a striking new front fascia with LED running lights, new headlamps, a new hood and grille combination and a new rear fascia with integrated exhaust outlets. New wheel designs and body accenting complete the refresh, and initial photos suggest a vehicle that is now slightly more alert, aggressive and dynamic.

Contemporary ambience and a relaxing atmosphere were the pillars of the Enclave’s cabin from the onset, and the 2013 model takes things one step further. Look for new ice-blue ambient lighting, an 8-way power driver’s seat and an all-new centre stack with standard LCD display screen, tri-zone climate control and capacitive touch controls.

The cabin has been further refined with additional stitching, more premium materials and real chrome accents. Four colour combinations are available, complete with complementing wood tones.

“Enclave’s sense of fashion is enhanced with rich saturated tones and the new colour combinations, which are driven by Buick customers’ lifestyles,” said Ven Lai, Buick creative designer. “The new Cocoa interior colour is a great example. It was developed specifically for the Enclave, adding a higher degree of visual warmth that is complemented by the soft feel of the Nuance sandstone leather. It makes for a comfortable and rewarding place to be for daily commutes or long weekend drives.”

No matter where that drive takes Enclave owners, several new technologies enhance the experience along the way. Buick’s IntelliLink system is now on board for the ultimate in wireless connectivity to music, contacts and information. The Bluetooth-powered system makes it easy and safe for drivers to get maximum functionality out of numerous compatible devices while on the move. Advanced multimedia connectivity, OnStar functionality with Smartphone access and a Bose audio system are all available as well.

Innovation further extends into the Enclave’s safety efforts, which now include a standard front centre airbag. The revolutionary new airbag deploys from the inboard side of the driver’s seat, and positions itself between the driver and front passenger for added protection in certain types of crashes. No other air bag in passenger vehicles today offers this type of protection in the front seat.

Rounding out the Enclave’s 2013 updates are revised suspension components and transmission programming enhancements that work towards an even more refined driving experience.

The 2013 Buick Enclave will arrive at dealers this fall.
