The 2012 Nissan JUKE, first introduced as a 2011 model, is an exciting crossover that matches its distinctive appearance with fun-to-drive capabilities. It combines the handling of a sports car with the practicality of a utility vehicle.

The 2012 Nissan JUKE (MSRP starting at $19,990) comes in S, SV and SL trim levels with all-wheel drive available across the line.

Engine and Performance
The Nissan JUKE finds the right match of performance and fuel efficiency. Its turbocharged, dual overhead cam aluminum-alloy inline four-cylinder Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) engine carries Nissan's PUREDRIVE designation. That's for models using Nissan’s most advanced technologies to promote eco-friendly driving and lower carbon dioxide emissions. The engine produces 188 hp and 177 lb/ft of torque through a choice of two transmissions: Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) with Sport Mode or a six-speed manual transmission (available on the SV and SL front-wheel drive models only).

The turbo engine helps the JUKE get strong fuel economy numbers for its horsepower. Fuel economy is rated at up to 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway for JUKE front-wheel drive models equipped with the CVT, and 25 mpg city/31 mpg highway for JUKE front-wheel drive models with the six-speed manual transmission. JUKE all-wheel drive CVT models are rated at up to 25 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

The available Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive System can split torque from side-to-side in the rear to help enhance the JUKE's cornering. Up to 50 percent of the total available engine torque can be sent to either rear wheel.

A unique aspect to the JUKE is the integrated control system (I-CON) that is standard in SV and SL trim levels. It has three modes that offer custom settings for throttle, transmission and steering response: “Normal,” “Sport,” for more athletic handling and “Eco,” for fuel savings. I-CON also runs the climate control system.

Strong Value

The S trim level features five-passenger seating with a 60/40-split rear bench seat, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat and four-way passenger’s seat with tricot cloth, AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with six speakers, iPod connectivity, steering wheel audio (and cruise) controls and speed-sensitive volume control, a drive computer with outside temperature display and Bluetooth hands-free calling.

Choose the SV trim level and standard features include rear privacy glass, a power-sliding glass moonroof, premium cloth seating surfaces, the I-CON system, automatic temperature control, Nissan Intelligent Key® with Push Button Ignition and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The SL trim level includes foglamps, automatic on/off headlights, leather seating surfaces and leather-covered shiftknob and heated front seats. Also standard are the Nissan Navigation System with five-inch screen and XM NavTraffic with real-time traffic information. A RearView monitor, upgraded speakers with Rockford Fosgate eight-inch subwoofer and USB connectivity are also part of the SL trim.

JUKE Safety Features

Every 2012 JUKE comes equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System, the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System with dual-stage, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags for front and rear outboard occupant head protection and front-seat Active Head Restraints. Other standard equipment includes the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System, Vehicle Security System and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
