The weather is warming up and it’s time to come out of hibernation. In Iowa, social clubs and groups are already planning big events and activities for the summer and into next year, so join in on all the fun.

 

If you love biking, check out the Des Moines Cycle Club (DMCC) where all riders are welcome, regardless of age or skill level. The group hosts several events throughout the year from the family-friendly "Ridin' Green to the Farmer's Market" ride to outings with the club’s state-ranked race team. Rides are classified as “Social,” “Moderate,” “Mixed,” “Training” and “Show and Go,” so you know what kind of pace to expect. The group also organizes gatherings like wine and cheese galas, and rides to support local causes. In an effort to share good books with readers of all ages, the Akron Public Library hosts the Akron Book Club. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the library’s meeting room. Members volunteer to lead discussions, and the library helps provide selected books for everyone.
