Florida Chamber Gears Up for 2004 Legislative Session

The Florida Chamber  expects the next 60 days to be dominated by constitutional amendment reform, health care initiatives and budget negotiations.  Beginning next week, Chamber Insider will include a Florida Business Agenda Report (FBAR), which will provide the most current legislative information on each of the Chamber’s Florida Business Agenda priority issues.

As legislation is introduced, the Chamber will identify proposed bills as “Pro-Biz” or “No-Biz.”  Legislation that increases government efficiency and is sensitive to the needs of employers will be identified as “Pro-Biz” and will be strongly supported by the Chamber.  On the other hand, the Chamber will aggressively oppose proposals that hamper an employer’s ability to run his or her business and identify them as “No-Biz.”

Keep in mind that during session, the Chamber grades legislators on how they vote on issues  important to Florida employers.  Following session, the results will be tallied and published in our “Legislative Report Card.”  This Report Card is then delivered to 123,000 employers in the Chamber Federation as well as to legislators and the media.  It is important legislators understand their actions are monitored by the Chamber and are reported back to Florida employers.  The Chamber’s Report Card has become an important tool used by media, candidates and interest groups who contribute campaign funds to legislators seeking re-election or a higher office.
