You’d have a hard time finding room for improvement in the eight-seat Lexus LX 570, yet Lexus has managed to enhance luxury and convenience in this premium luxury SUV while also giving it an exciting new look.

The brand’s daring new “spindle” front grille design leads the roster of changes for the 2013 LX 570 premium luxury SUV. New headlights flank the grille, and they integrate new LED daytime running lights for a distinctive appearance. You’ll find subtle new design updates in the taillights and bumpers, and Lexus even made the tow hitch more integrated than before.

The LX 570 rolls on new design 20-inch alloy wheels, the side mirrors gain turn signals and wider body side moldings offer added protection from parking lot dings and scratches. Such details combine to give this exemplar of luxury an even more elegant presence.

Inside the 2013 Lexus LX 570 (MSRP: $80,930), the heated and cooled front seats cool even better than before, and middle-row passengers will appreciate the new 120-volt power outlet. If you drive a current LX 570, you’ll notice the 2013 model’s updated instrument panel, and you’ll certainly appreciate the new Easy Access system that makes getting in and out of the vehicle easier than ever; when you turn off the ignition, the system automatically retracts the steering wheel and moves the driver’s seat rearward. The next time you get into the vehicle and turn on the ignition, the seat and wheel return to the settings you’ve pre-set.

That added convenience comes in addition to the already-standard Active Height Control system that can lower the vehicle by about two inches to assist with entering and exiting. The vehicle automatically returns to normal height when you begin to accelerate.
Renowned Lexus attention to luxury details comes through in the new mahogany wood trim, which is set off nicely by a new dark chrome finish on the center dashboard and air vents. Lexus certainly knows how its customers appreciate new color choices. The 2013 LX 570 changes to Parchment from Cashmere for the interior leather trim while for exterior choices, Medium Nebula Gray Pearl and Satin Cashmere Metallic take the place of Twilight Gray Metallic and Golden Almond Metallic.

Lexus left alone all the features and technology that make the LX 570 so capable in all type of driving and road conditions including, of course, off-road driving. Start with rugged and strong body-on-frame construction and the ability to tow up to 7,000 pounds. The smooth 5.7-liter V8 makes every day driving or towing effortless with 383 hp and 403 lb/ft of torque.

In the Lexus LX 570, the six-speed automatic transmission connects to a full-time four-wheel drive system that helps the vehicle shrug off snow, mud and off-road trails with confidence and poise. Note that this type of system offers far more all-around capability than the all-wheel drive systems used in crossover-type vehicles. Its Torsen® limited-slip locking center differential distributes power 40 percent front/60 percent rear in normal driving and can vary that as needed. A four-wheel Active Traction Control system (A-TRAC) also works to keep wheelspin in check, helping to ensure steady going in the worst of conditions.

If steep off-road inclines come into your driving plans, the vehicle’s low-range gear provides the slow-speed control you need, backed up by Crawl Control and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC). With Crawl Control, the LX 570 keeps a steady, slow, safe pace while you focus on steering. If you stop on a hill, the HAC system prevents the LX 570 from rolling backward when you start out again. Also, when you do shift the LX 570 transmission into low range, Automatic Height Control raises the vehicle to provide additional ride height.
Those who’ve never driven a Lexus LX 570 before might reasonably wonder, after reading about such rugged capability, how this vehicle can also provide a Lexus-smooth ride on regular roads and highways. Aside from the high-strength construction, one of the keys to the luxurious ride in the LX 570 is the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). This clever suspension technology continuously adjusts the shock absorber damping rates as you drive, ensuring optimal comfort even as the road surface changes. You can choose between “Comfort,” “Normal” and “Sport” modes to tailor the system’s comfort level to your own tastes.

The 2013 Lexus LX 570 continues this model’s plush luxury, advanced infotainment features and solid durability. This year, get ready for a new standard in full-capability luxury SUVs.
