When buying a truck, you’re not simply buying another vehicle. A truck is a tool, often an important part of its owner’s life and livelihood, and everyone who needs a truck needs something different. The 2012 Toyota Tundra offers whatever you need, and can work hard and play hard, too.
To make sure you can get exactly what you want, the 2012 Toyota Tundra is available with three cab styles (Regular, Double Cab and CrewMax), three bed lengths (78.7 inches, 97.6 inches and, for CrewMax only, 66.7 inches), three wheelbase lengths (126.8 inches, 145.7 inches and 164.6 inches, depending on model and configuration) and two trim grades (Tundra and Limited). With such a wide variety of choices, you can build more than the ideal truck; you can build your ideal truck. With prices starting at $25,155 (MSRP), your new 2012 Toyota Tundra won’t break the bank either.
To make sure your perfect truck delivers the ideal drive, the 2012 Tundra is available in your choice of three engines. Regular Cab and Double Cab models start with a 4.0-liter V6 that produces 270 hp and 278 lb/ft of torque. This engine is paired with a five-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) equipped with Sequential Shift Mode and Uphill/Downhill Shift Logic. There are two available V8 engines, a 4.6-liter i-Force V8 with 310 hp and 327 lb/ft, and a 5.7-liter i-Force V8 with 381 hp and 401 lb/ft of torque. Both i-Force V8 engines are paired with six-speed ECT-i transmissions that feature the Sequential Shift Mode and Uphill/Downhill Shift Logic and, in some models TOW/HAUL mode. Both meet Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle II (ULEV II) emissions certification requirements.
Making sure the perfect truck is easier to build, Toyota has streamlined and simplified the option packages for the 2012 model year. Other notable changes for the 2012 pickup include a standard back-up camera on certain models (Limited and TRD Rock Warrior Packages), as well as a new Chrome Package for Double Cab and CrewMax models. Of the new packages, the Tundra Work Truck Package is designed for the business owner and corporate sectors. It is a tough, no-frills truck with outstanding towing and cargo capacity. It is available in Regular Cab and Double Cab configurations with your choice of any of the Tundra’s three engines. The package features heavy-duty seating surfaces and all-weather flooring.
If your ideal truck needs a bit more comfort and luxury, the Platinum Package (available on Tundra CrewMax Limited) offers such niceties as heated and ventilated front bucket seats, embroidered headrests and seating surfaces trimmed with perforated leather. The Platinum Package also includes a power tilt/slide moonroof with sliding sunshade, and wood-grain-style interior trim pieces. All CrewMax models feature a segment-exclusive reclining and sliding rear seat. Combine this with the cavernous 44.5 inches of maximum rear legroom, over six inches more than a Cadillac STS full-size sedan, and comfort abounds for all passengers.

Perhaps you want your Tundra with a little more off-road performance. The available 4x4 drivetrain in the Tundra is capable of pulling you and your gear to many otherwise inaccessible locations, and for those who need a bit more grunt, Toyota also offers the TRD Rock Warrior Special Edition Package. The package, available on 4x4 models, features an off-road tuned suspension with Bilstein® gas-charged mono-tube shock absorbers, and BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A KO tires mounted on 17-inch TRD Rock Warrior forged alloy wheels. Available in Radiant Red, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Super White or Black exterior colors with color-keyed front bumper and grille surround, the TRD Rock Warrior is also equipped with foglamps and privacy glass.
Whether your new Tundra is a workhorse, a comfortable practical family hauler, an off-road monster or any combination in between, you’ll feel safe knowing you and your occupants are protected by Toyota’s standard Star Safety System™. The system includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Traction Control (TRAC), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop brake override technology. The Tundra is also equipped with multiple airbags, including front seat-mounted side airbags, as well as front and rear Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA). All Tundra models also come equipped with driver and front outboard passenger Advanced Airbag System, and knee airbags.
Your new Toyota Tundra protects you, and Toyota protects your new Tundra. With a 36-month/36,000-mile new vehicle warranty and a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, your Tundra is protected from any major issues. All new Tundras also come standard with Toyota Care, a complimentary plan covering all normal factory-scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles you own your new Tundra. Toyota Care also comes standard with 24-hour roadside assistance.
With such an impressive array of options and features, it is easy to see why the Toyota Tundra is constantly garnering awards and accolades. IntelliChoice named the Tundra a “2011 Best Overall Value,” and the Tundra has received its sixth straight “Most Dependable Large Pickup” award from the J.D. Power & Associates Vehicle Dependability Study. Award-winning dependability and value, all available in a package built to suit your individual needs.
The 2012 Toyota Tundra is not just any truck, it’s your truck.
