With the arrival of fall comes some potentially nasty weather, and DCH Auto Group wants to keep you and your family safe on the road. Use these tips and be extra careful as the leaves fall this year, especially in the rainy weather.  

 

The summer months have now come to an end and that inevitable chill in the wind and fading daylight is settling in. As the seasons shift, it can sometimes be a dangerous time to be on the road as drivers reacquaint themselves with driving in the dusk and bad weather. If you have found that the shorter days are beginning to affect your vision whilst out on the road in the evenings or early mornings, there are a few things that you should check on your car.

 

By making these quick simple checks, you are ensuring that your vehicle does not add to the autumn driving hindrances. With the days becoming shorter, there is a higher risk of a low sun affecting your vision during rush hour. Reduce the risk of your eyesight becoming impaired by keeping your windscreen clean – on the inside as well as the outside.

 

Part of this includes making sure that you always have enough screen wash. You don’t want to run out just as your windscreen is bombarded with muck from the road. For this reason, it is also very important to make sure that your windscreen wipers are in good working order – if they are old they are likely to cause a smear across your windscreen – leading to your visibility becoming very poor.

 

As well as being able to see the road, it is paramount that other road users are capable of seeing you! Make sure that you check your light bulbs on a weekly basis – if one has stopped working then replace it immediately.

 

Simple steps like these go a long way in reducing the possibility of a crash.
