US Retail Diesel Average Dips 0.6cts to $3.862 Gallon


The national average for on-highway diesel fuel shed 0.6cts to $3.862 gallon for the week-ended Sept. 12, reported the Energy Information Administration.

 

With the decrease, the average is 26.2cts below the better than 32-month high of $4.124 gallon reached the week-ended May 2 while 91.9cts above the comparable week in 2010, EIA data showed.

 

Retail on-highway diesel prices were down for most regions across the nation this week, with the largest drop in the Midwest at $3.841 gallon, 1.1cts lower than the prior week, and 92.10cts gallon higher than the same period in 2010.

 

The next largest drop came in the Gulf Coast, which shed 1.0cts for the week to $3.790 and was 90.3cts gal higher than a year ago.

 

The East Coast region overall average price was down 0.7cts to $3.879, but 94.7cts higher than the average price at this time last year. The Central Atlantic region eased 0.2cts, averaging $3.985, plus was 96.6cts higher than the same period last year. In New England, the price average edged down 0.9cts to $3.985, up 99.8 from 2010. The Lower Atlantic was down 0.8cts to $3.825, up 93.5cts for the year.

 

The West Coast, inched up 0.3cts at $3.984 gallon, with the average 88.3cts above the corresponding 2010 period.

 

In California, on-highway diesel fuel increased to $4.067 gallon, up 0.9cts on the week.

 

EIA data showed the Rocky Mountain region up 1.3cts to $3.903 gallon, up 87.2cts for the week compared to 2010.
