TextCafe provides the first step in creating a Microsoft Reader (LIT) format file by creating an Open eBook format file and an eBook style sheet (CSS) tuned for LIT file creation.
In addition to TextCafe's basic capabilities, the system specifically supports LIT file creation as follows:
- Document structure is mapped to the Open eBook DTD with the extensions supported by the Microsoft Reader
- Automated creation of a table of contents (TOC) file is supported based on the structure, and standard headers (H1, H2, H3, etc.) are generated
- Special characters are transformed into ISO Entities supported by the Microsoft Reader SDK
- Absolute font sizes (e.g., "8.5 point font") are converted into system font sizes supported by LIT, e.g., xxSmall, xSmall, Small, Medium, Large, xLarge, and xxLarge
- Document font names are intelligently mapped onto system fonts supported by LIT format, e.g., Serif, San-serif, and Monospace
- Page number anchors are created, enabling automated cross-linking and indexing based on original document page numbers
- The OEB package file is automatically generated to create the LIT file
