What Do You Think?

Last quarter, we asked whether or not you would read Symantec's online 2010 Corporate Responsibility Report. Survey results showed that:
  • 13.2% of respondents had already looked at the full site
  • 39.7% of respondents had looked at parts of the site
  • 28% of respondents answered that they would read it
  • 5.8% of respondents indicated that they would not read it
  • 13.2% of respondents indicated that they would read the Executive Summary
Ninety-one respondents also explained why they would or would not read the report. Of these responses, we conservatively estimate that 42% were from employees (we did not ask this question in the poll, but 38 of the answers clearly indicate that the respondent works at Symantec). Employee answers generally fell into six categories:
  • I feel it is part of my responsibility as a Symantec employee and/or it is part of my job duties (20 responses)
  • I have a personal interest in learning more about what Symantec is doing, where we are making progress on CSR issues, and where we still need to do more (5 responses)
  • It is important to me that I work for a responsible company (4 responses)
  • I want to learn how I can get involved with Symantec’s CSR efforts (3 responses)
  • I will not read the report because I am unhappy at Symantec and/or believe the reporting is incomplete (3 responses)
  • I have too much to do; I don’t have time to read the report (2 responses)
 Thanks for your feedback!
