All-new Honda Odyssey Minivan starts under $30,000
Honda’s latest minivan packed with new features and value-based pricing.

Honda Canada has released pricing figures for their all-new, redesigned 2011 Odyssey minivan. Designed to compete with the Nissan Quest, Toyota Sienna and Dodge Grand Caravan, the latest iteration of Honda’s family hauler packs a slew of new design features, fuel-efficiency enhancing technologies and a sleek and sporty new look that’s set off by a so-called ‘lightning bolt’ beltline.
Honda says that more than 50 features have been added across the model range, which consists of LX, EX, EX-RES, EX-L and Touring trim levels.

New features include a new “3-mode” second-row seat design that expands laterally, along with a simpler-to-operate, one-motion, 60/40 split 3rd row Magic Seat. The latter is designed to better accommodate three passengers with improved comfort, while the new “wide mode” supports third-row pass-through access from the side with as many as two child seats in place in the second row. The third row also provides improved legroom, along with better sight lines out of the side windows. All said, it’s clear that Honda’s gone through the Odyssey bumper to bumper to add clever touches designed to make life on the go easier for shoppers and their families.

“The all-new Odyssey is set to once again redefine the minivan segment as the benchmark of minivans,” said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada. “Never before has so much space, functionality and comfort been combined with this much style, safety, advanced technology and fuel economy all in a fun-to-drive package. This is a dramatic value improvement for Canadian consumers”.

Starting the model range is the Odyssey LX, which is priced from $29,990. Standard is an 8-way driver’s seat, privacy glass, remote entry and a full-function traction and stability control system with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). Advanced antilock brakes and a full selection of airbags are also on board, as is a tire pressure monitoring system.

The feature-rich Odyssey EX comes in at $33,990, while the luxurious EX-L model carries a sticker of $40,990. The top-line Odyssey Touring caps the model range at $46,990.

All 2011 Odyssey models come equipped with a 3.5 litre VTEC V6 engine with Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management system for minimized fuel consumption. Output is rated at 248 horsepower, and drivers can enjoy highway cruising mileage as low as 7.1L / 100km. A five or six-speed automatic transmission is standard, depending on the model selected.

For enhanced peace and quiet on long trips, Odyssey’s rear-seat entertainment system can play movies and music on a flip-down screen while broadcasting the audio directly into a set of wireless headphones. On out-of-town trips, the kids can enjoy their favourite DVD while mom and dad enjoy their favourite CD or satellite radio station. Best of all, the Odyssey’s new ‘ultra wide’ entertainment system gets a 16.2-inch screen and is HDMI compatible.

Other notable features include available heated leather, Bluetooth and navigation. A backup camera, blind-spot indicators and hard-drive audio storage can be specified as well.
