TRA OCTOBER 24 DINNER HONORS AMB. VANDEN HEUVEL

 Prominent Figures Join Honorary Dinner Committee
 
      On Friday, October 24, 2003, at the 84th Annual Dinner of the Theodore Roosevelt Association  (TRA), at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, the Hon. William J. vanden Heuvel, former Ambassador to the United Nations, noted investment banker and philanthropist, will be awarded the Theodore Roosevelt (R)  Distinguished Service Medal. Ambassador vanden Heuvel is currently Chair of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute (FERI); a member of the TRA's Advisory Board; and a former Trustee of the TRA. He led the efforts to establish the Roosevelt Study Center in the Netherlands, founded by FERI, the TRA, and the Province of Zeeland in the 1980s to provide a research and conference facility for American studies in Europe.
 
      Many of Bill vanden Heuvel's friends have joined the Honorary Committee for the October 24 TRA Dinner. The committee is still in the process of formation, but the current list is given below:

          The "Officer of the Year" from the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) will also be honored at the October 24 dinner, and Dr. Mike Manson, former Associate Director of the TRA, will receive the TRA's Rose Award.
 
           The October 24 dinner is part of an entire weekend of activities that make up the 84th Annual Meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association, which includes visits to TR Birthplace in Manhattan and Sagamore Hill in nearby Oyster Bay. The annual meeting of the TRA Board of Trustees will be held at TR Birthplace on October 25.
 
           Roosevelt & Cross, the famous investment firm, is the Sponsor of the October 24 dinner, but some slots are still open for Co-Sponsors for the Annual Dinner. Co-Sponsors contributing $5,000 will receive a table for ten at the dinner and listing in the program, and those giving $2,000 will be listed in the program as Co-Sponsors.
