There are many choices when it comes to SUVs. However, when it comes to SUVs that offer fuel economy, comfort and style in one beautifully built package, the one you’ll want to get into is the Mercury Mariner Premier.
The 2010 Mercury Mariner Premier comes in two trim levels: Premier I4 and Premier V6. The Premier I4 comes with standard features that include 16-inch 12-spoke alloy wheels, air conditioning, foglights, privacy glass and a six-speaker CD stereo with auxiliary jack. Ford’s SYNC system with 911 Assist and GPS functions, heated front seats, leather upholstery and ambient interior lighting add a touch of class to the Mariner without breaking the bank. The Premier V6 offers all the I4’s standard features, plus a powerful six-cylinder engine.
Available options include a variety of packages that include features like 17-inch wheels, a backup camera, step bars, dual-zone climate control and a sophisticated Auto Park system that will automatically steer your Mariner Premier while parallel parking. Other optional features include Alcantara upholstery, an awesome seven-speaker audio system with SIRIUS Travel Link and traffic reports, plus an internal hard drive that serves as the navigation system and offers music storage.
The Mariner Premier stores a lot more than music, too. Its roomy, comfortable cabin is well-equipped with plenty of handy, secure storage spaces. With the rear seat up, the Mariner offers a generous 31.4 cubic feet of cargo space; with the rear seat down, cargo room expands to 67.2 cubic feet – more than enough for a weekend trip to the hardware store or even an extended vacation trip.
Both the Premier I4 and V6 are available with front- or all-wheel drive. The I4’s inline four-cylinder engine delivers 171 hp and 171 lb/ft of torque while the V6 edition generates 240 hp and 223 lb/ft of torque. Both versions come with six-speed automatic transmissions. With Mercury’s Tow Package, the Mercury Premier V6 can pull up to 3,500 pounds—perfect for camping, boating or snowmobiling. The I4 edition is rated up to 26 mpg.
Safety is another important reason the Mariner is one of the most popular vehicles in its class. The Mercury Mariner earned the highest-possible five stars in government testing for front and side crash safety, and the highest rating of “Good” in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s frontal offset and side crash tests. Standard safety features on the Mariner Premier editions include Mercury’s Personal Safety System with a variety of airbags and other safety technology, antilock brakes, AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ and rollover sensors.
And when it comes to safety, Mercury especially has new drivers in mind: among the Mariner’s most unique safety features is the MyKey™ system, which improves the safety of younger, more inexperienced drivers by limiting top speeds and stereo volume.
The Mercury Mariner Premier editions deliver it all—comfort, power, handling safety and plenty of hauling capacity, too—all wrapped up in one completely classy package.
MSRP for the 2010 Mercury Mariner editions start at $23,560.
