Dear TRA Board Member and Advisors:

The Awards Committee will meet in the coming months to select the Theodore Roosevelt Bertha Benkard Rose Award for Outstanding Service to the Theodore Roosevelt Association for the year 2005.  You are invited to submit your nomination to the committee for this prestigious award. The award will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association in New York City.

The Bertha Benkard Rose Award is given in memory of Mrs. Reginald P. Rose for her service on the Executive Committee of the Association from 1956 to 1982. Mrs. Rose, on behalf of the Association, was instrumental in the preservation of Sagamore Hill. Through her inspired dedication, energetic leadership, and hard work she embodies the highest tradition of service in the TRA.  The “Rose Award” is bestowed to those officers and members of the TRA who have rendered outstanding service to the Association, and who have earned special prominence and distinction in the history of the Association.   More information on the history or previous recipients is available by clicking on highlighted links.

The Rose Award recipient receives a copy of the same “relief” sculpture that is outside the Oval office. TR’s favorite sculptor, James Earle Frasier, created the original sculpture as well as the great Buffalo nickel and the monument in front of New York’s Museum of Natural History.

To submit a nomination to the Awards Committee please include:

(1) The name of the nominee and suggested citation stating briefly the achievement or contribution for which the award should be given.

(2) A short summary (not to exceed 200 words) as to why the nominee should be considered for the award including any available biographical information concerning the nominee.
