Months of hard work or, to be exact, 364 days of negotiations, have resulted in an exciting new relationship for The Lewer Agency and Lewer Life Insurance Company. Discussions began early last year and intensified over the summer when representatives from Trustmark Life Insurance Company of Lake Forest, Illinois first visited Lewer to discuss the details of a deal that now officially makes Trustmark Lewer's second student insurance program insurer – an exciting development for the LewerMark plans, as the development results in the availability of LewerMark student insurance in additional states.
After months of persistence and hard work put forth by both teams, the Lewer companies and Trustmark Life Insurance Company agreed to "seal the deal" on March 3, 2009. “There were three different agreements being negotiated and weekly phone conferences to review our progress," said Lewer general counsel Robert Stompoly. "It truly was a long process, but well worth it in the end.”
"It was a natural fit," said Mike Lewer. "We were looking for a second insurance partner to supplement our strong positioning with Great-West/CIGNA, and Trustmark was interested in working with us. Our new partnership with Trustmark strengthens the LewerMark program in new parts of the country."
According to Jeff Crawford, this is an exciting development for LewerMark. "Trustmark gives us a flexibility we did not have before," said Jeff. "When we need a partner who can assist us when the solution for a client requires something a little different, we now have more options."
