Introducing the TMdrive™-MVG

TMdrive®-MVG
180 to 11,400 kVA
 
TMEIC GE recently released the TMdrive-MVG, a re-design of the TMdrive-MV for smaller size and lower cost applications. Featuring high-quality Japanese design and manufacture, the TMdrive-MVG can drive existing or new induction motors. This medium voltage ac-fed drive is designed for high efficiency and power friendly operation in a wide range of industrial applications.
 
High reliability, low-harmonic distortion, and high power factor operation are designed into the drive. The TMdrive-MVG is available for industrial power ratings up to 10 MW, in four voltage classes:
  • 3.3 kV voltage class: 3,000 to 3,300 V ac, 18 pulse
  • 6.6 kV voltage class: 6,000 to 6,600 V ac, 36 pulse
  • 10 kV voltage class: 10,000 V ac, 54 pulse
  • 11 kV voltage class: 11,000 V ac, 30 pulse

Design features of the TMdrive-MVG include:

  • Conservative design using 1700 IGBTs
  • High energy efficiency over 97% (design value)
  • Diode rectifier ensures power factor greater than 95% in the typical speed control range
  • Multiple level drive output waveform to the motor
  • Designed to keep running after utility supply-transient voltage dropouts - up to 300 msec.
  • Synchronous transfer to line option with no interruption to motor current
  • Input isolation transformer inlcuded in the drive package
  • Direct drive voltage output level

 Applications for this medium voltage drive include large pumps, fans and compressors. Either induction or synchronous motors can be driven.
