While the eyes may be the window to the soul, the mouth is a window to the body’s health. In recent months, numerous studies have confirmed that oral health is connected to overall health. Student health leaders on campuses across the U.S. are responding by adding dental coverage to their LewerMark plans.
In response to an increasing demand for dental coverage, The Lewer Agency now offers two plans, a Careington plan and an Assurant plan.
“We have been marketing the Careington discount dental plan since 2007,” according to LewerMark manager, Rodney Vallejo. “The discount individual dental plan is available to all of our client schools through the LewerMark website. Students are able to enroll on-line by purchasing the discount dental benefit plan with a credit card.
"The Careington discount plan also provides students with discount vision benefits through EyeMed Vision," according to Rodney. "Both the dental and vision discount plans are network programs. A list of participating providers in the U.S. is available on the website. The plans provide students with discounts ranging from 15 – 45 percent of the fee schedule amounts at participating locations. The Careington plan is available nationwide with a few exceptions."
The Assurant Secure Choice Individual Dental Plan was made available to client schools in Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Tennessee on January 1, 2009. In addition to these key states, the plan is also available in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, New York, and Pennsylvania. Students at schools located in these states now have the option of purchasing the Assurant pre-paid individual dental plan through the LewerMark website.

Johnson County Community College (JCCC) was the first LewerMark school in the Kansas City area to offer the new Secure Choice Dental plan to international students. Students enroll online or, upon request, The Lewer Agency will conduct an open enrollment during a school’s orientation week.
