Governor George Pataki of New York and Senator John McCain of Arizona visited Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, Theodore Roosevelt's home in Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY,  on Sunday,  September  22, 2002, and Governor Pataki announced that a copy of the special Theodore Roosevelt Gubernatorial Centennial CD-ROM, produced by the Theodore Roosevelt Association, will be given by the State of New York to 2,500 public high schools, libraries, and universities in the Empire State. Both the Governor and Senator McCain noted that their hero is Theodore Roosevelt, and Governor Pataki added that accordingly he had named his son "Theodore"!

Governor Pataki in 1998 appointed a special commission to commemorate the centennial of Theodore Roosevelt's governorship of New York State,  1898-1900. The work of the commission resulted in the development of interpretive TR kiosks, both informative and colorful, which have now been installed in public places, such as the Buffalo airport and Grand Central Station in Manhattan, Governor Pataki said at Sagamore Hill in his remarks on September 22. The TR kiosks will  inform people about TR's career and the TR sites in New York State.  The commission also recommended the creation of a new CD-ROM on Theodore Roosevelt, Governor Pataki noted,  which was produced by the Theodore Roosevelt Association. The Theodore Roosevelt Centennial CD-ROM
includes the entire contents of the classic Theodore Roosevelt Cyclopedia (681 pages), which is now out of print, a new supplement to the TR Cyclopedia,  the two volumes of TR's gubernatorial papers, and four original Thomas Edison recordings of TR's voice.
"This new CD-ROM is an extraordinary educational tool,"  said Governor Pataki, "and I am delighted that this important collection will be shared with students, schools, and communities across New York State."   Senator John McCain, after paying tribute to TR in his remarks on Sagamore Hill's piazza, stated: "I really do hope that every school child in America has access to this CD-ROM !"

Does your local library or high school have the Theodore Roosevelt Centennial
CD-ROM ?    Does your alma mater, do the universities in your state, have copies of what Governor Pataki calls  this "extraordinary educational tool"?  Perhaps you, or your company, or your friends would be willing to donate TR CD-ROMS to libraries and schools in your state .   Maybe your state, like New York, could be convinced to buy TR CD-ROMS for all the public schools and libraries.  The CD-ROM is available for purchase directly from the TRA, or at the TR public sites, and nowhere else.  Contact the TRA Office for further information about the Theodore Roosevelt Centennial CD-ROM.
