INCUMBENTS RETAIN SEATS IN USAT ELECTION

The USAT National Office has announced that two incumbents will be keeping their seats on the USA Triathlon Board of Directors. In the East Region, incumbent Fred Sommer (Clermont, Fla.) defeated Rob Vigorito (Columbia, Md.) and Alisa Wright Colopy (Cary, N.C.) to maintain his seat on the Board. In the West Region, incumbent Tim Becker (Seattle, Wash.) beat out former Board member Sharron Ackles (Kona, Hawaii) to maintain his seat.

Board president and Mid-Atlantic region member Ray Plotecia (Baltimore, Md.) ran unopposed for his at-large seat as did Brad Davison (Austin, Texas) in the Central Region.

According to USAT election officials, voter turnout was low due to the lack of candidates. Less than 1,000 ballots were received from a membership of more than 38,000.
