Offering a complete package of design, quality, convenience, comfort, safety features and overall value, the 2011 Kia Optima continues to earn praise from across the auto industry.
Internationally known for its stunning exterior design, the Optima recently earned the prestigious red dot design award, being named “Best of the Best 2011.” Winners of the red dot awards are selected by an international jury.
The upscale and aesthetically pleasing interior of the midsize Optima sedan has also been recognized with a spot on Ward’s “10 Best Interiors” list. The Optima instrument panel is contoured toward the driver, lending a cockpit feel without sacrificing comfort or roominess. Paddleshifters behind the steering wheel and a high console with a short shifter add to the overall chic vibe of the interior. In addition to exterior and interior design, the Optima has also been recognized for its safety features. Named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Optima received the highest rating of “Good” in all four crash-test categories: Frontal offset, side, rear and roof strength. The Optima also received an overall five-star crash safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
A well-designed and safe vehicle, the Optima is also an affordable option. It was named a Consumer Guide Automotive “Best Buy” and a “Top Ten Best Buy” by Auto A Fondo.
Other distinctions for the 2011 Optima include being named an “Editors’ Most Wanted” selection by Edmunds’ InsideLine.com and “Best New Model” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. Cars.com included the Optima on its “Best of 2011” list while AutoTrader.com included it among its “Top 5 Family Cars that Dads Can Love Too.”
Environmentally friendly, the Optima has earned the EPA’s “SmartWay” certification mark. This distinction is reserved for vehicles that meet EPA-established criteria for air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions for a particular model year. The Optima is currently available with two all-new, fuel-efficient engines, a 2.4-liter Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) four-cylinder and a 2.0-liter GDI turbo.
