Thanks to a readily recognizable shape and standard luxury appointments, the Nissan Murano has been a stalwart of the premium crossover segment since its introduction. Functionality, luxury and sportiness can exist in one package without sacrifices, and the proof is the 2012 Nissan Murano.
A Trim for Everyone
The 2012 Nissan Murano (MSRP starting at $29,540) offers buyers a wide variety of choices including S, SV, SL and LE models with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, and the all-wheel drive Murano CrossCabriolet™ Convertible. New for 2012 is an available Murano LE Platinum Edition with new 20-inch wheels, Nissan Navigation System and exclusive Sapphire Black exterior color.
Highlights of S model standard equipment include 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a vehicle information center with a new seven-inch monitor, an MP3-capable in-dash six-CD changer, an auxiliary input jack, driver’s seat lumbar adjustment, Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC), Nissan Intelligent Key® with Push Button Ignition and interior mood lighting.
The SV adds a USB port for iPod connection, XM Satellite Radio, an eight-way power driver’s seat, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and a Vehicle Security System, plus exterior upgrades including automatic on/off headlights, black roof rails, foglights, a Dual-Panel Moonroof and a RearView monitor.SL model highlights include leather seating surfaces, driver's seat position memory, heated front seats, steering wheel and outside mirrors, 11-speaker Bose premium audio system, power-return rear seatbacks, a power liftgate and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The LE trim level is the most luxurious and further adds 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, silver-accented roof rails, High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional Xenon projector headlights, heated rear seats, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with position memory and wood-grain trim.
Distinctive Style
The 2012 Nissan Murano has a broad mesh front grille bisected by the Nissan logo. It's offset on both sides by large headlamps. The hood flows into the strong wheel arches to create an aggressive stance up front.
The crisp lines the Murano is well known for continue on the rear fascia. Slanted triangular taillights are split by a wide-opening tailgate topped by a rear spoiler that sits over a deep rear bumper with cutouts for the dual exhaust system.
Speaking of distinctive, the 2012 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet puts the sportiness and luxury of the fixed-roof Murano crossover into a fun-to-drive all-wheel drive convertible model that features a power-operated soft-top, a glass rear window and pop-up rear-passenger rollbars. Its seven-speaker Bose audio system comes with an automatically adjusting amplifier to deliver premium sound top-up or top-down.
Sporty Performance
A robust powertrain has always been a Murano hallmark. For 2012, a powerful, yet fuel-efficient VQ-series 3.5-liter DOHC direct-injected V6 is used in all models. In the fixed roof models, this engine delivers 260 hp and 240 lb/ft of torque; in the CrossCabriolet, the V6 is retuned to produce 265 hp and 248 lb/ft of torque. Both powertrains are paired with Nissan's outstanding Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) with Adaptive Shift Control, which tailors its behavior in real-time to match your driving behavior for smooth, seamless shifts and sporty responsiveness.
Performance is further enhanced with a choice of either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The latter is an intuitive system that works with the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control. VDC has sensors for vehicle yaw, wheel slip and steering angle to instantly provide the power and traction to the appropriate wheels.
Every Murano offers a standard four-wheel independent suspension with extensive use of lightweight aluminum for a reduction in weight. The suspension design features a cradle-type front subframe and multi-link rear design with improved geometry and large front and rear stabilizer bars.
Safety for All
The Murano comes standard with six airbags including the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System. Safety is also augmented with an energy absorbing steering column and high-strength steel side door beams. Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System are also standard. A five-star rating for side-impact crash safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was awarded to the 2012 Murano.
The Nissan Murano continues its heritage as a benchmark luxury crossover with a wide selection of features and trim levels. Contact us today to see which model works best for you.
