Penn State No. 1 with Recruiters
The value of a Penn State degree got a major boost this month when a Wall Street Journal study of nearly 500 recruiters from some of the biggest U.S. employers revealed that Penn State grads were the No. 1 choice to hire.
According to a Wall Street Journal study of 479 of the largest U.S. companies, non-profits and government agencies, Penn State has the best-prepared grads and is favored over Ivies and other private liberal arts schools when searching for qualified candidates. The story noted that Penn State was the top-ranked college or university at “producing the best-qualified candidates.” Recruiters said Penn State graduates were “Bright, well-rounded students … with the core competencies we desire.”
These recruiters should know—they have hired more than 43,000 people collectively last year. The goal of the survey was to identify majors and schools that best prepare students to land jobs that are satisfying, well paid and have growth potential. The survey included companies in nearly 30 industries, including finance, consulting, technology, engineering, marketing and health care, as well as nonprofits and government agencies.
